Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music

The Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music has been established as a registered charity since 1971. Its aim is to support the work of Bedfordshire Music, a partnership between Bedfordshire County Council and the Bedfordshire Music Trust, in promoting and sustaining musical performance by the young people of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. The breadth and depth of music education within the area can be seen by viewing the list of ensembles.

The area can be proud of having what many regard to be the finest Youth Music Service in the country, but its very success, coupled with continual cuts in public funding, has led to more and more demands being made on the Friends limited resources. In late 1999 a Millennium Appeal was launched, which is still on-going, with a target of raising £25,000, so that we can ensure that similar opportunities for musical fulfillment are available to the next generation of our young musicians.
